Two laptops with the same size screen can need completely different panels. We match yours on every spec that matters, so the new screen fits, connects, and looks as good as the day you bought it.
The 60-second test
Plug in an external monitor or TV.
Read your screen like a technician
This is why “a 15.6-inch screen” is not enough information, and why cheap mismatched panels cause so many second visits.
Size
15.6"
Measured diagonally across the visible panel, not the lid.
Resolution
1920 × 1080
A different resolution may fit and even light up, but looks wrong or will not work properly.
Connector
eDP 30 / 40-pin
The socket on the back of the panel. The wrong one simply does not plug in.
Refresh rate
60 – 240 Hz
A 60 Hz panel in a 165 Hz gaming laptop fits, and quietly loses what you paid for.
Touch
Yes / No
Touch screens are laminated assemblies with their own connector; non-touch panels cannot add it.
Panel type
IPS · OLED · TN
Sets viewing angles, contrast and colour. OLED must be replaced with OLED.
Surface
Matte / glossy
Matte resists reflections, glossy looks punchier. Worth matching.
Mounting
Brackets or tabless
Some panels screw in by side brackets; thin laptops use tabless panels held by adhesive.

Service Tag
A 7-character code on the label underneath, also shown in the BIOS. Dell’s support site lists the original parts for each Service Tag.
Product number
On the label underneath or behind the battery on older models. HP’s PartSurfer looks up parts from the product or serial number.
Machine Type Model
The MTM and serial on the label underneath. Lenovo’s PSREF specification sheets list the panel options for each model.
Exact model
The full model on the label underneath — not just the series name. In Windows, type msinfo32 in Start and read System Model.
Read the code out to us on the phone and we check the panel for that exact model.
Three special cases
The glass, the touch layer and the display are bonded together, so a crack in the glass means a whole new assembly. It is a dearer part than a plain panel, and it has to be the touch version: a non-touch panel will fit some of these laptops but you lose touch and pen input.
OLED panels give deep blacks and strong colour, and they are replaced only with OLED. They are also more likely to show the coloured lines and spreading dark patches that follow pressure damage.
144, 165 and 240 Hz panels are what make a gaming laptop feel fast. A 60 Hz panel can physically fit the same lid, so check what you are being offered: the refresh rate should be on the quote.
Not always the panel
Laptop screen replacement
When the right panel is in stock, often the same day. Less common panels — high refresh rate, OLED, touch — may need to be ordered for your exact model. We give you a realistic time on the phone.
It depends almost entirely on the panel: a standard 1080p non-touch screen and a 240 Hz or OLED touch panel are very different parts. Call with the exact model number and we quote for that; you hear the price before any work starts.
No. Replacing the screen does not touch the drive. As with any repair, back up first if you can — with an external monitor connected, the laptop works normally.
With an external monitor, yes. Without one, cracks tend to spread, and pressure on a cracked panel can damage the display cable or the hinge area. Keep it closed carefully and avoid carrying it with anything pressing on the lid.
Yes — MacBook screens are our speciality, and they work differently: on most MacBooks the whole display assembly is replaced. See MacBook screen replacement.
